VSL™ / VSL1200™ / VESSEL™ / VESSEL SOUND™ / VESSEL COMMUNICATIONS™
VSL™ and all associated names and entities are a living and breathing dedication to the underground music scene.
VSL™ and VESSEL™:
VSL™ is an acronym for VESSEL™. The correct way to pronounce VSL™ is actually “vessel”; however, VEE-ESS-ELL is also commonly used. The acronym was created to shorten “VESSEL™” for web URL purposes and because it had a certain “zing” to it. Also, the three letters in VSL™ may represent the three reasons a heart is used for the logo. The VESSEL™ name was inspired by a combination of things. “VESSEL™” can mean a transport (such as a ship) or an avenue of transport (such as blood vessels pumping life through one’s veins). The term is also commonly used not only to describe ships at sea, but also space ships in science fiction. Additionally, the VESSEL™ name was partly inspired by Björk’s 1994 VHS release by the same name. VESSEL™ was originally intended solely as a band name; however, it became attached to all Christian’s artistic, multimedia, marketing, and tech works in existence and ever since.
VSL1200™:
The VSL1200™ name was created because www.VSL.com was not available as a URL. An alternate meaning of the name is “Virtual SL -1200” which is now a defunct web project dedicated to the Technics SL-1200 turntable, featuring mixing, scratching, repair, and modification tutorials. None-the-less, “1200″ still pays homage to the SL-1200 turntable, the most popular DJ device in history.
VESSEL SOUND™:
VESSEL SOUND™ was the name given to VSL™’s sound system which was destroyed in a flood.
VESSEL COMMUNICATIONS™:
VESSEL COMMUNICATIONS™ is a name that encompasses VSL™, VSL1200™, VESSEL™, VESSEL SOUND™, as well as other external music, promotion, design, and miscellaneous services.
The logo has undergone several manifestations but is generally represented by a heart and is reminiscent of a certain robotic symbol.
There are 3 main reasons a heart is used. 1st, it represents a heart condition that Christian suffers from; 2nd, it represents love for music; and 3rd, the heart is responsible for pumping blood through “vessels” in the human body, and is generally considered to be the center of life and animation. These three reasons also coincide with the three letters in VSL™.

Mr. Furious (aka Rick Furious)
VSL1200™
Vice President
Additional Duties: Floor Manager / Booking Manager / Marketing Executive
Mr. Furious was introduced to drumming at a young age by his father who was an incredible musician. Having played drums nearly all of his life, Rick also experimented with guitars and other instruments before he began experimenting with DJ turntables circa 2003. Inspired by electronic music through working at legendary clubs in Tampa, FL such as Twilight, the Masquerades, and Bahasa, he began to persue the art of being a DJ. At first, he mainly focused on House music, getting a few gigs at Bahasa. He had also been inspired by Drum n Bass, which he had experienced at the Masquerades. However, he did not make a full conversion to it until a year after meeting Christian, who was always preaching the genre and had worked in the field. By 2004, Mr. Furious had joined VSL1200™, becoming the only active member besides Christian, since the destruction of the VESSEL SOUND™ system on January 1st, 2002.
By proving his energy and dedication through working the scene alongside Christian, Mr. Furious has become an integral part of the company. In 2009, he deservingly earned his official title of Vice President of VSL1200™.
